West Midlands based corporate gift specialists Porter and Woodman commissioned The Site Doctor to design and develop their complete online presence in time for their 2007 Christmas sales period. Despite a complicated delivery charge calculation and complex gift personalisation options we were confident that we could have the e-commerce website online in time.
Utilising the latest web based technologies including ASP.Net 2.0 and Microsoft AJAX, the e-commerce website was set live in time for Porter and Woodman's 2007 Christmas season. WineAndHamperGifts.co.uk took just over 200 hours development time and is able to easily handle even the most complex combination of shipping, recipient and gift personalisation variations.
WineAndHamperGifts.co.uk has in-depth real-time reporting available including a breakdown of current carts, total value of orders broken down by payment status, time of day and day of week allowing Porter and Woodman to closely monitor the efficiency of the site and react to customer’s demands a lot quicker than ever before.
As the website was completed so close to Porter and Woodman's main Christmas sales period there was not sufficient time to allow the website to naturally rise up through the search engines and so we advised Porter and Woodman they setup an online advertising campaign through Google AdWords. As with any marketing campaign, it is imperative the results are closely monitored to ensure the goals are being met and the money is being spent effectively. Using the built in reporting and Google Analytics we are able to closely monitor the conversions and further refine the campaigns ensuring the campaigns are efficient.
As Porter and Woodman have an Excel spreadsheet template that they give to users to easily supply their recipient data for larger orders they wanted to allow the online users to upload their existing spreadsheets of recipient data. To take this into account we integrated an Excel download and upload facility into the site that exports a user’s shopping cart into a pre-defined Excel spreadsheet allowing the customer to easily enter the recipient data offline before uploading the data back into the system.
We think you will agree that the resulting e-commerce website is both pleasing to the eye and easy to use. We have found the site is inviting and usable by the even the most novice of web users.
